SEND
Special Educational Needs and Disabilities are described by the Special Educational Needs Code as falling into 4 areas:
*Communication and interaction
*Cognition and learning
*Behaviour, emotional and social development
*Sensory and/or physical.
At our Pre-School we know that some children will have difficulties in more than one of these areas and we make provision for those children who have a variety of needs. We base our support on the specific needs of each individual child and make adaptations to our environment, teaching, resources and staffing levels where necessary.
Debbie Pinfold is the setting SENDCO and supported by Katie Connor who is also trained in SEND.
As well as the support we offer for identified children, we offer generalised support within Pre-School. For example, if your child has difficulty with their Speech and Language, trained staff can spend time on focused activities encouraging the use of language and social skills.
With parents’ permission and if required, we will call on the expertise of outside agencies to ensure the best outcomes for children with SEND.
