                   Opening Hours
 Monday - Thursday : 9am - 3pm

We are based at the heart of both Caythorpe and Caythorpe's community and are situated within the grounds of Caythorpe Primary School. Children become part of their peer group from an early age and make friendships that last into school and beyond.

Our Environment

Caythorpe Pre-School is registered with OFSTED who Inspect us on a regular basis to ensure that we meet the standards set in the Early Years Statutory Framework.

The staff and Committee are very proud of our setting and its’ resources, situated in the heart of our lovely village. Children and their families are made to feel welcome and comfortable in our long-established Pre-school, staffed by long term experienced staff.

Our proximity and close links with Caythorpe Primary school facilitate a smooth transition to “Big School”. Children are able to spend time in the reception class, the outdoor area and are also able to use the facilities of the Primary school and primary school grounds, including climbing frames and trim trail.

The Pre-School is one of Caythorpe's hidden gems. Tucked away just off the High Street in the heart of the village, we are situated in the grounds of the local Primary School in purpose built premises.

We are inclusive of all children and the premises has accessibility for all. We have outside and sensory play opportunities and we provide for children with Special Educational Needs, disabilities and special dietary requirements.

Staying Safe

The safety of the children in our care at Caythorpe Pre-School is of paramount importance. For this reason, we have robust policies and procedures and risk assessments in place.

Staff train and update themselves on an ongoing basis in all areas of Safeguarding and in particular those areas of safeguarding specific to Lincolnshire. The Manager/Designated Safeguarding Lead, Debbie Pinfold, also attends regular briefings presented by the Local Authority.

During their time at Pre-School and through our curriculum, the children are taught how to keep themselves safe in an age-appropriate manner. They learn how to take care of themselves with growing independence, both at Pre-School and at home. This includes washing hands, listening to instructions, playing nicely and sharing with the people around them. Our topics on Road Safety Bonfire night etc includes staying safe when they are out walking or playing.

We share information with parents around children staying safe on line and our Safeguarding policy is available on Parent’s Tapestry Account and at Pre-School.

Outdoor Learning

At Caythorpe Pre-School, we recognise the importance of outdoor activity and the impact that it has on children’s health and wellbeing.

Lincolnshire has one of the highest rates of childhood obesity in the country and the long-term effects can result in heart disease and Type 2 Diabetes.

For this reason, we spend time outdoors every day, giving children the opportunity to practice their gross motor skills, balancing, jumping, climbing and running. We have tyres to roll and push, objects to lift and carry. Developing gross motor skills leads to good hand eye co-ordination, fine motor skills and in the future holding a pencil and writing.

We are fortunate to have the use of the school field which offers more scope for physical activity including climbing, playing football, running races and enjoying the natural environment.

On occasions, we have a walk to see the new born lambs in the barns, or visit the church to decorate a Christmas tree. We also go to the park to collect conkers and acorns on our nature walks.
